Lesson 4: Friendship And Support
| Introduction |
|---|
|
The first two lessons focused on the physical and emotional changes young people go through in puberty. You mature from being a child to becoming an adult with your own responsibilities. Growing independent with your own opinions and values is an important part of that. You grow more independent from your parents, while at the same time your own social network of peers and friends is becoming more and more important to you. In lesson 4 we will focus on this social network of friends, peers and family. Who are the most important people in your life? What is friendship? What does it mean to be a good friend? Who gives you support? And why is having friends and a social network so important? Being clear about who you are and what you want, also requires you to be able to communicate clearly. This lesson teaches you how to communicate in an assertive way, so people will take you seriously and listen to you. Finally, asking for support and offering support to others is key in achieving your dreams. You will make your own map of support (‘My support circle’), to explore who in your life gives you support and in what situation. This can help you to ask them for help when you need support. It also teaches you how to support others. |
