Lesson 1: The World Starts With Me

Key Messages
  1. Having good friends is a source of support, love and joy. It has positive effects on our self-esteem and personal growth. Especially during adolescence when you are growing independent from your parents.
  2. It is important to be able to ask for and receive support. A problem shared is a problem halved.
  3. If peers pressure you to do something, we call this peer pressure. Be assertive: resist peer pressure to do things you don’t want to do!
  4. It is never okay to bully someone. Stand up for the person that is bullied! Severe bullying should be reported.
  5. Friends should respect you – sometimes friendships have to end when friends treat us with disrespect.
